Celebrate Summer Solstice by making your OWN solar-infused nature prints! Join Guild Member Miri Admoni for a Cyanotype Workshop on Saturday June 20 at the Guild Gallery & Art Center in Kerby.  Miri provides many years as a seasoned artist to help you find your courage and trust with the carving process. With her detailed instruction and hands-on assistance, you'll feel confident enough to start and finish a cyanotype on your own using the skills you learn in class. You'll walk away with a series of prints of your very own on paper and fabric, along with knowledge of basic cyanotype printmaking techniques.

Cyanotype printing is an enchanting and accessible photographic technique, which has captivated artists and photographers since its discovery in the early 19th century! It is a slow-reacting contact printing process that produces stunning monochrome blue and white images using UV light (from the sun) and two simple chemicals: ferric ammonium citrate and potassium ferricyanide. Papers or fabrics are soaked in these, dried, and objects are then laid onto the mediums and put in the sun to cure! Canotype is an excellent starting point for beginners of all ages interested in alternative photography methods. We will provide 1 pair of latex gloves per student for use when handling the cyanotype materials.

This workshop series is for ages 13+ and all skill levels are welcome--no prior experience is required. Minors should ideally be accompanied by an adult. Class fees are TBA and includes ALL materials. When you register, please honestly self-select your contribution. Choose a tier that supports you to commit. By paying at the highest level you help subsidize others and offer scholarships to support a wider range of people. If the sliding scale would be a hardship and you’d like to request a scholarship, please send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. MiriAdmoniBioABOUT MIRI ADMONI: Miri Admoni (b. 1954 in Tel Aviv, Israel) is a mixed media, glass, and jewelry artist, who shares her life between Israel and the USA. Arts and crafts were always a part of Miri’s life since childhood. Her formal education was in graphic design, where she has worked as a freelance designer and producer of unique recycled paper products and specialized in packaging. During 2004-2010 Miri has studied various glass techniques, and in 2011-2012 she studied metalsmith in a private studio and started to create jewelry with glass. Nature has always been the greatest source of inspiration. Initially Miri was inspired by her surroundings in Israel, the rich and diverse nature scenes between the Mediterranean Sea and the Judean desert. That led to the creation of the Alchemy glass series and the collaboration with Bedouin women artists. Now Miri lives and works from her home studio in Selma Oregon, where she continues to explore her relationship with nature thorugh varied mixed media - everything from glass, printmaking, found object assemblages, and more. Miri currently serves as Guild Board President since 2025, bringing her passion for the arts to our local community in the Illinois Valley.
