Creating Nature’s Textures in Watermedia

Creating Nature’s Textures in Watermedia with Pam Haunschild & Jenifer Eufusia
Saturday May 11, 2024 from 10am-4pm
Location: The Southern Oregon Guild Gallery & Art Center
Price: $80-$100 sliding scale, texturing materials included

Texture makes your paintings feel more dynamic, creates a sense of depth, and helps viewers emotionally connect with your work! In this fun and exciting workshop, local painters Pam Haunschild & Jenifer Eufusia will help you create some very interesting textured watermedia backgrounds and then turn them into harmonious, successfully finished paintings. You can work in the watermedia of your choice (acrylic, watercolor, acrylic ink, or gouache). We will create exciting textures using texturing mediums along with some ordinary household materials (all texturing materials are provided). This class is appropriate for anyone – beginners will have no trouble with the methods used and more advanced painters will be able to add complex texturing processes to their repertoire!

Pam & Jen will provide: texturing mediums and materials, applicators, and other miscellaneous items.

Students will need to bring:
  • 6 (or more) surfaces of your choice. Watercolor paper (any weight), canvas, and pre-gessoed boards (like Gessobord, Claybord, or create your own) all work well. Size is up to you, but we suggest you work 11 x 14" or larger if you want.
  • Water media paints of your choice. Acrylics (fluid or regular), acrylic inks, gouache, and watercolor all work well. Bring colors of your choice, but we suggest a yellow, a red, two blues (one light and one dark) as a minimum. Email us for color suggestions.
  • Brushes you like to use. A large soft mop-type brush is useful if you have one.
  • A spray bottle, palette, and water container (larger is better).  We also suggest wearing an apron and old clothes.
  • Optional: texturing materials like stencils, stamps, wine corks, sponges, papers with raised surfaces, etc. We will have a large assortment for you to use as well.

Class is $80-$100 sliding scale. When you register, please honestly self-select your contribution. Choose a tier that supports you to commit and that may be a stretch but not a hardship. By paying at the highest level you help subsidize others and offer scholarships to support a wider range of people. If the sliding scale would be a hardship and you’d like to request a scholarship, please send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or call us at 541-592-5019.

  • $80, if you’re financially stretching
  • $90, if you’re financially comfortable
  • $100, if you’re financially flourishing
