Painters work in watercolor, acrylics, oils and artists’ pencils, rendering two-dimensional art works that range from pure abstraction to photorealism to unique combinations of images that express feelings, ideas, and a view of the world. Fine art printmakers etch or carve their original images into hard material like wood or metal and print the images, usually on paper.
Most of my pre-Oregon life was in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina. Armed with a degree in mathematics and a teaching certificate, my career in education began and several decades later and that is still developing.

I recently moved to Southern Oregon from Ohio in February 2024. Many of my artist affiliations were in Ohio. I obtained a degree in Art Education from Bowling Green State University in Ohio. I taught in the public and private school systems in Ohio. I also taught art classes at the Mansfield Art Center, where I was a member for 50 years. Over the years I took numerous art workshops to hone my artistic skills.
In addition to teaching, I loved to paint. I was a member of the Ohio Watercolor Society and the Ohio Plein Air Society. I served as a Board member of the Ohio Plein Air Society and the Competition Chairperson in 2022 and 2023. I made many connections and friends with plein air painting.
I painted professionally exhibiting in galleries, co-op galleries, juried competitions, and juried outdoor art shows. My painting style is impressionist with a liberal use of color. I work in watercolors and oils. My subject matter consists of landscapes, seascapes, florals, and still-lifes. I am inspired by nature, the play of light, and atmosphere. I want to get out in this wonderful Oregon landscape more and plein air paint, it is a truly beautiful state.
In her artistic practice, Pam explores nature. She goes beyond realism and provides a unique, powerful vision of her natural subjects that deepens the connection between the viewer and the natural world. Her distinctive style is colorful, highly textured and semi-abstract, but the natural forms can still be identified. She works in watermedia -- both acrylics and watercolor, often in the same painting.
Pam currently splits her time between Ashland and Bandon, Oregon. Although she had a scholarship to attend art school when she was young, she went into academia instead. After a career as social science professor at Stanford and U. Texas-Austin, Pam turned back to her first love and has been painting full time ever since. She educated herself by taking many classes and workshops at art schools like Oregon College of Arts and Crafts and Scottsdale Art School and did extensive private study and mentorship with three well-known watermedia artists.
She has been fortunate to have been selected as artist-in-residence at three National Parks: Lassen (CA), Glacier (MT) and Lake Clark (AK) and continues to be inspired by her time there. She is a signature member of Artists for Conservation. She has received several private and public commissions including producing the 2019 Britt Festival playbill cover and designing and painting a 7 x 14 foot native plant mural for installation at Southern Oregon University. Her work is held in many private and public collections, including the National Park Service.
Pam has had her work shown as part of many juried one-person and group exhibitions and has won many awards for her art. She has been on TV and radio, and her paintings have been used in literary journals and as book covers. She is represented by Art & Soul Gallery in Ashland, OR; Second Street Gallery in Bandon, the Mendocino Art Center in CA and the Southern Oregon Guild in Kerby, OR.
Brian Davis was exposed early in life to a world of art and creativity during high school. His two instructors were of the surreal persuasion and being fascinated by it seemed to stick with him! Fast forward through marriage, children and work sidelined his ability to make art a priority. Now living in the idyllic Southern Oregon town of Merlin, Brian has allowed his channels to re-open into art. Brian's small hobby farm gives him a wide variety of subject matter to draw inspiration from for expressions in acrylic or oil paints; a bouquet of flowers, a bowl of fruit, or vegetables on the vine. His personal art studio completes a space from which to create. Brian's work is currently on display at the Southern Oregon Guild Gallery in Kerby, Oregon.
