Shahoma McAlister hand-weaves beautiful and unique alpaca fiber rugs in her studio near the wild and scenic Illinois River in Southern Oregon. Colors of nature and the textural richness of mountains and rivers inspire and influence her creative weavings.
Having been self-taught on a large production loom, she enjoys exploring interesting ways to reveal images, patterns, or blended colors observed in nature. Her unique approach of interweaving, incorporates tufts of fleece straight from the alpacas, as well as other special locally sourced yarns. Dyed colors are from natural non-toxic dyes.
Creating useful, healthy and unique rugs is Shahoma's way to share appreciation of our beautiful world.
