Mary Ann Clady is a local painter who moved to the Illinois Valley in Southern Oregon from North Central Ohio in February 2024. She works in an impressionistic, painterly style in colorful oils and watercolors. Her subject matter covers a range of landscapes, seascapes, still lifes, and florals. Some of her work is done by plein air on-site.
Mary Ann graduated from Bowling Green State University in Ohio with a degree in Art Education. Further studies in art included workshops in oil & watercolor painting, life drawing, and ceramic classes. She has taught in public and private schools, along with teaching at the Mansfield Art Center in Mansfield, Ohio where she was a member for over 50 years.
In addition to teaching, she has also exhibited her paintings in galleries, juried art shows, and outdoor art venues throughout Ohio. She served as a Board Member of the Ohio Plein Air Society and the Competition Chairperson in 2022 and 2023 and now serves on the Southern Oregon Guild's Board of Directors as Membership Chair. Since moving to Oregon, Mary Ann has been inspired by the natural beauty of this state. She hopes to capture more of the spirit of the Illinois Valley in paint and is currently forming a plein-air painting group.
