FUNDRAISER: 2026 Guild Raffle Fundraiser
PRIZE: Original 3D Acrylic Painting by Sheila Mason

HELP US RAISE $2000 for our art programs! Guild artist and local Illinois Valley esteemed painter, Sheila Mason, has graciously donated one of her original 3D acrylic redwood paintings from her personal collection to benefit the Guild! This one-of-a-kind piece valued at $1000 measures 36”L x 24”H x 2”D, features 3D texture, and would be a beautiful addition to any home, office, or place of your choosing. It includes hanging hardware and the artist's signature on the back. The painting can be seen in person at the Guild Gallery during open hours and at special events. Raffle tickets can be purchased online, via Guild Board Members, or at the Guild between 11am-5pm Tuesdays-Saturdays. All forms of payment are accepted. The raffle drawing will be held at noon, December 19, 2026 before Christmas. If purchased remotely online via the button below, we will fill out your desired # of raffle tickets with your name and phone number and place them in our raffle jar for you.

Join us on Sunday August 30 from 3-5pm for the FREE opening reception of our first Summer 2026 Art Exhibit at Art in the Vineyard, a Guild Gallery at Bridgeview Winery's Tasting Room in Cave Junction. This trio show features the paintings of Guild Members Becca Farmer, Gabriela Alvarez, and Brian Davis, on display through October 11, 2026. Award-winning Bridgeview wine and food will be available for purchase. Bridgeview Winery is located at 4210 Holland Loop Road Cave Junction, OR 97523 and open Wednesday-Sunday 12-7pm. Hours subject to change.

EVENT: 11th Annual Upcycle Art & Furniture Contest

The Southern Oregon Guild and the Cave Junction Farmers’ Market present, the 11th Annual UpCycle Art and Furniture Contest and Trash Fashion Show! Join us in celebrating over a decade of promoting sustainability, creativity, and community! This event takes place at the Cave Junction Farmers' Market (CJFM), located at 24100 Redwood Highway Kerby OR 97531, across from the Kerbyville Museum. ReUse / RePurpose / or Upcycle junk or discarded/found objects to create a beautiful piece of art, wearable fashion, or sturdy furniture. This contest is FREE to enter! Submit your entries at the CJFM site by 3:30pm. Furniture MUST be sturdy and judging will be based on CREATIVITY, not fine workmanship. We encourage all to participate, especially if you don't think of yourself as an "artist"!

CLASS: Textile Origami with Kristine Berg

Join 40-year textile professional Kristine Berg, on Saturday September 12 from 1-5pm at the Guild for this 4-hour hands-on workshop and learn the basics of modern smocking and fabric manipulation.  With a ruler, needle, and thread, you will follow measured pathways to transform fabric into sculptural forms that echo landforms, waves, and basketry, all arising from intentional folds and carefully placed stitches.  You will learn how to create a grid, interpret and copy a design pattern, and create a 3d sample. Most participants will complete two different design samples within class time! Kristine will bring examples of her complex-looking Textile Origami technique in a range of fabrics – from linen and cotton to velvet and polyester – to illustrate how results vary across materials, as well as examples demonstrating an array of applications. This workshop is for ages 18+ and all skill levels are welcome--no experience is required other than the ability to thread a sewing needle!

EVENT: Artists Rethink Fashion Series

In an era dominated by cheap, disposable clothing and escalating environmental waste, a collective of visionary local artists is striking back with creativity. The Southern Oregon Guild presents Artists Rethink Fashion, a 3-part fundraiser series to take place on Saturdays September 26, October 3, and November 7 from 1-4pm each day. Discover how Guild Members are rescuing textiles, challenging fast fashion, rejecting throwaway culture, and transforming clothing into timeless wearable masterpieces! Set amidst the background of local creations inside the Guild Gallery & Art Center, three different designers will host educational and interactive runway shows emphasizing sustainability as the ultimate canvas, each sharing a different approach and unique ways to create your own style and a quality, flexible wardrobe that lasts. Ticket holders will enjoy a selection of refreshments and opportunities to get close to each piece, ask questions, and learn about its evolution and construction. Each artist will have a large variety of work on display, many available for purchase, during and after each presentation.

Holiday season is approaching--are you looking to try your hand at making your own unique decorations and gifts? Come create a Christmas heirloom-your very own wooden Santa to be enjoyed for generations to come! Join instructor and seasoned artist Mark Bair on Saturday November 21 from 10am-4pm at the Guild Gallery & Art Center as he helps you find your courage and trust with the wood carving process. With his detailed instruction and hands-on assistance, you'll feel confident enough to start and finish a small woodcarving on your own using the skills you learn in class. You'll walk away with a finished and painted Santa figure, along with knowledge of basic carving techniques and wood selection! Beginner & skilled carvers welcome, as no prior experience is required.
